Senior Water Production Technician - SALARY: $19.95 - $27.93 Hourly (Depending on experience) GENERAL SUMMARY
To lead and participate in the work of staff responsible for operating and maintaining the City's water pumping facilities; to regulate the flow of water to various zones in the water system; to ensure that adequate water supplies are available throughout the City; and to operate and maintain various pump equipment and production facilities in support of the City's water system.

General supervision is provided by the Production Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, plan, train, and review the work of staff responsible for operating and maintaining the City's pumping facilities.
Plan, direct, and participate in the pump station and lift station duties.
Assist in supervising the use of and operating SCADA system, pumps, boosters and water flow regulators maintain adequate water pressure in system.
Train assigned employees in pump maintenance and techniques and in the set up and use of equipment.
Ensure the adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
Inspect pumps and boosters on a daily basis; record vital numerical information.
Inspect pumps and water production equipment for malfunctions, blockages or leaks; diagnose needed repairs; develop maintenance and repair schedules for lower level staff.
Clean and lubricate pumps and other production equipment as needed.
Regulate the flow of water from reservoirs into various zones throughout the City's water system.
Perform weekly testing of equipment and machinery to maintain quality assurance and high performance.
Record production and water demands.
Perform chemical tests on water samples from various locations; ensure water quality meets regulated standards.
Take bacteriological samples as required by TCEQ.
Perform chemical tests of water supplies; determine chemical needs of the water; add disinfectant to the reservoirs as needed.
Work with various chemicals.
Maintain the security of water pumping facilities.
Maintain grounds at assigned facilities.
Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
Oversee the annual inspection of ground storage tanks water towers for inspection.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED.
Two years of increasingly responsible experience involving the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of water pumps, electrical and electronic equipment, and related systems.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to obtain a valid Class "C" Distribution certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, within one year following successful completion of probationary period, if hired after January 1, 2002. Failure to obtain certification will result in non-disciplinary termination.
Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., with rotating on-call and some overtime required.
