Description

To perform a variety of activities in support of water, wastewater, street maintenance and upkeep. 

Organizational Relationships:

1. Reports to: Division Manager of Water Sewer Utilities 

2. Directs: This is a non-supervisory position.

3. Other: Has contact with other city employees and the general public.

Essential Duties

Maintain repair and install items relating to streets, water, wastewater, pavement, sidewalks, trails and drainage systems; operates various types of equipment necessary in the daily repair, installation and maintenance of the above.

Maintains and performs repairs on water mains, wastewater mains, service lines, service laterals, meters, meter boxes, cleanouts, manholes, valves and fire hydrants;

Scheduled on-call for nights, weekends, and holidays, as required;

Installs, connects, services and reads water meters; Repairs lift stations;

Prepares and installs signs and sign poles; Uses hand tools to dig ditches or holes, and shovels dirt, gravel, asphalt, or sand; Performs road repairs and road maintenance, maintenance and construction duties;.

Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.  May assist with Park Department activities as needed.

Education and Experience: 

 High school graduation or G.E.D.  plus two years of related experience;

 Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 Other Requirements

 Preferred: Must reside within a 60 minute response time from City Hall.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED

Appropriate, valid class “A” or “B” commercial Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 4 months of hire.

Desirable to maintain a “C” Water and Level I Wastewater TCEQ operations certificate or be able to obtain one 24 months from the date of employment.
