This position is responsible for providing coordination and management of Streets, Drainage, and Mosquito Control operations and maintenance activities to assure compliance with program objectives.  Responsible for efficient utilization of division resources to achieve maximum division productivity and customer satisfaction.  Monitor and assure compliance with all applicable regulatory authorities and safety requirements as part of the division’s duties and responsibilities.  Position requires excellent communication and negotiation skills in situations that require considerable tact and judgment in responding to the customers, general public and contractors.  Responsible for coordinating, scheduling and supervising the activities of assigned personnel in the maintenance and repair of all public streets, bridges, sidewalks and drainage structures.  Provides tree trimming along public streets.
 
 Summary of Duties:
  • Monitors and assures quality customer service.  Maintains productivity and efficiency of division personnel.  Assure completion of division programs.
  • Responsible for the management of data collection, inspection and reporting in regard to all divisional annual inspection programs of the infrastructure.
  • Responsible for the development and training of divisional personnel and providing annual evaluations on schedule.
  • Responsible for preparation of the division’s annual operations and maintenance budget complete with sufficient support information regarding division KPI’s.
  • Reviews and approves invoices and service contracts pertaining to division activities.
  • Utilizes computers and available software to maintain division work orders, inventory, accounting and infrastructure inspection programs.
  • Attends meetings with other City staff, residents and contractors as needed in the performance of the division’s duties and responsibilities.
 Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education:
  • College course work equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in construction management or engineering technology.                                
Experience:
  • A minimum five years progressively responsible experience in supervisory and Public Works management including managing multiple rehabilitation projects.
  • Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above-required knowledge, skills and abilities is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
Training (License and/or Certification):
  • Valid Texas Class A Driver License or ability to obtain within 6 months
