Assistant Public Works Director - City of Orange, Texas

The Public Works Department is comprised of eight divisions including Building Services, Engineering, Fleet Maintenance, Water, Sewer, Sanitation, Streets and Drainage, and Parks. Approximately 68 employees deliver these services to residents and businesses with a total budget of approximately $12.3 million.
The City of Orange seeks an outgoing, well-rounded individual to serve as the new Assistant Public Works Director. The chosen candidate will be a good communicator, both written and verbally, and have excellent public speaking and presentation skills. The Assistant Public Works Director will provide administrative assistance for several major components of the City’s municipal services. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and be able to perform a variety of complex administrative and technical work and assist in administering policies and programs in all areas of the Public Works department. The new Assistant Director will lead by example, be relatable, and have exceptional personnel management skills.
The selected candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and an Engineer in Training certificate. A professional engineer license is preferred. At least five years of experience is preferred in performing a variety of complex administrative and technical work and directing policies and programs in a municipal public works setting.
The salary for this position is $90,000 depending on qualifications & experience.
