Assistant General Manager – Green Valley Special Utility District, Texas
The Green Valley Special Utility District (GVSUD) is seeking an experienced and dedicated professional who leads with integrity to serve as its Assistant General Manager. GVSUD, originally the Green Valley Water Supply Corporation, was formed in Marion, Texas in 1963 with the vision to establish a safe and reliable water source for rural families in parts of Marion, Seguin, St. Hedwig, McQueeney, Schertz, Cibolo, and New Braunfels, which are part of Guadalupe, Bexar, and Comal counties. Fifty-six years later, GVSUD remains fully committed to providing safe, high-quality water services to its customers. GVSUD has grown from its initial 150 connections to nearly 14,000 connections today.
GVSUD is an independent organization of 43 employees governed by a seven-member Board of Directors who hires a General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the District. The District provides dependable service, fair rates, and a quality water supply, which is attributed to Green Valley’s strong board leadership, management, and dedicated employees. The Assistant General Manager is a new position for GVSUD and will report to the General Manager. The Assistant General Manager will plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the district’s objectives and projects as assigned by the General Manager.
The successful candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering, business administration, public administration, or a related field and five to seven years of progressively responsible professional supervisory, and leadership experience, preferably in a similar utility district or municipal public works setting. A master’s degree along with extensive knowledge of water systems and/or wastewater operations with appropriate certification is preferred. A combination of education, training, and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000 dependent on qualifications and experience. The GVSUD offers a competitive benefits package.
