The Opportunity As our Assistant Director of Public Works- Engineering, you are responsible for supervising and managing the operations of the Engineering division, which includes the engineering, construction management, engineering inspection, and GIS functions. Requiring a high level of customer experience for both internal and external customers. You will work on preparing the budget for the division, making sure to address all needs.
You will lead a team of engineering division professionals by modeling Coppell's Core Competencies and championing Coppell's Culture! Leadership Includes the hiring process (screening, selection, and onboarding), management (training, career development, coaching, recognition, and performance management), and exits (voluntary and involuntary). It also includes task assignments, delegation, and accountability systems.
Regular attendance is an essential job function, and the Assistant Director of Public Works- Engineering routinely works from 8:00-5:00, Monday-Friday, with additional hours as needed. You will be required to frequently participate in after-hours duties including, but not limited to, the Engineering Department management and public relations functions. Leadership Relationship The Assistant Director of Public Works- Engineering reports directly to the Director of Public Works and indirectly to the Deputy City Manager.
Pay Structure This opportunity is exempt and on Pay Grade #25. Pay for this opportunity will depend on qualifications.
Min $101,905 Mid $124,813 Max $147,745

Education - Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- Professional Engineer's License
- Certified Flood Plain Manager
Experience - Five years of progressively responsible management experience working with a municipal government or public agency
